Sunday 6th Dec[embe]r 1863
Fine clear morning with a fair wind
at 10 A.M. we was all mustered on the /deck\
and /was\ inspected by the Captain & Doctor
afterwards had service. the Captain
lead the service. As the bell on the
forecastle was peeling forth to gather
us all on deck to worship God, it
actually reminded me of home although
all was so strange, nothing but the
waste of waters all around, not a
tree or plant of any kind to remind
me of the green fields of Scotland
not even a solitary sail on the
horizon to break the monotony. The
sea is very smooth and we are all
enjoying the sail. Our latitude at
noon was 29° 33 north and about 19°
west longitude. all in good health and
beginning to get very hungry.

Notes
1. Crow is not listed as an assisted passenger nor a cabin passenger, so possibly another in steerage who paid their own way.
2. Henry had two sisters named Mary (b.1844) and Hannah (b.1846).
