HENRY SCHOFIELD DIARY
19th fine
I commenced being captain of our mess, had to get provisions biscuit & water flour raisins mollasses lime juice pickles mustard pepper salt. Made a loaf of bread and a spice pudding at night for Sunday. Got water again in the afternoon. Saw a great lot of flying fish. For dinner pork & rice. Saw 2 ships, 1 for home. A very foul head wind, going about 6 knots per hour to East. Had a heavy shower in the morning.
Notes
1. The man was likely 2nd cabin mate William Woodifield, who broke his knee cap on 26th November.
